The U.S. women's gymnastics team are all going to the next Olympics

The U.S. women’s gymnastics team, “The Final Five,” had their first home  appearance on Tuesday’s “Today show” to discuss the possibility of competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Final Five gymnasts are already looking ahead to the next Olympics in Tokyo.
Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian and Gabby Douglas are back in the states following team Gold medal win at the Rio Olympics. When the gymnasts were asked on the morning show to reveal who plans on going to the Tokyo Olympics,

'I don't want to look ahead to Tokyo yet, because we are just coming off of this,', but raise your hand if you think you will be in Tokyo coming up.' Hoda Kotb said.

They all replied positively “We’re all going again.” said Biles with is easier said than done. International Olympic Committee previously announced the Tokyo gymnasts will only consist of four members, which is one of the reasons the Rio team is named the “Final Five.”. The second reason for the name is that it was dedicated to the team coach Marta Karolyi, who also retired from coaching after these games.

The positive response is surprising considering that earlier hints Aly Raisman, 22, that she may be retiring. Madison Kocian, the team's uneven bars specialist, previously said she would stop competing at the elite level to focus on college gymnastics where she earned a scholarship at UCLA. She is the only member of the team that didn’t go professional. It’s quite surprising that Raisman, 22, and Douglas, 20, who were teammates on the London squad, returned for a second straight Olympics this year on a high profile. Competing in three straight games is almost unheard of for female gymnasts, but their performance in Rio shows that the sport is shifting and athletes may have a longer duration for competition at the elite level.

Countries will only be able to send four gymnasts per nation starting at the next games. This sumerises that the all team members can’t make it to the next Olympics coupled with the upcoming generations of talents: Jordan Chiles(the Junior with a strong Amanar), Regan smith (the fierce one that was at the verge of peaking prior to the Olympics), Baliey Key( would have made the team but was knocked out by injury) Jazmy Forberg, Nora Flately and Nia Dennis are also big names that missed out due to injuries. They are either going into college gymnastics or contending big time for Tokyo. Its going to be a tough one for the “final five” as the have to beat the gymnasts to step in.

Biles, who took home a historic four gold medals in Rio, is widely expected to return to defend her title in Tokyo. Raisman and Hernandez have earlier announced their future comebacks, we are not yet clear on Gabby as she said earlier pointed that she doesn’t know what to do outside the world of gymnastics.
While their pizza date with Zac Efron got canceled, they got the opportunity to see Usher, Jimmy Falcon and tour the Empire state building.
