China's Yao Jinnan Will Likely Not Make This Year's World Gymnastics Championships

During podium training for National’s at the first ever National Youth Games, Yao Jinnan was seen at the venue but did not participate with her fellow teammates. Coach Wang told Sina Sports that Yao will not be participating in National’s and it is likely that she will miss this year’s World Championships.

A little while ago, Yao Jinnan went to the United State’s of America for her shoulder surgery, and currently she is in the postoperative rehabilitation process, therefore, she did not register for National’s.

Her coach is optimistic about her recovery, and said that “it’s better than we expected.”

On whether or not missing National’s will affect her chances at World’s, coach Wang said, “In principle, we are ready to make her give up this year’s World Championships, which would allow her to have to prepare for next year’s Olympics with better overall health.”

For the rest of his training team, coach Wang is preparing four girls towards this year’s World Championship team selection process: Huang Huidan, Wang Yan, Mao Yi, and Fan Yilin.
