From the stable of Aliya Mustafina
Tweet Here is a summary of Aliya Mustafina's
interview in a morning radio show.
Her teammate Viktoria Komova has
always been her main competitor in
gym.
Mustafina wasn't supposed to compete
on all four events during London's team
final but had to when her teammate
Anastasia Grishina refused to compete
on balance beam. Mustafina said that
she understands how hard was it for
Grishina to compete in such an
important competition in her first senior year, so she replaced her.

will have the ability to handle the
pressure.
She believes that competing at cups (like Japan and American cups) helps in
preparing for important competitions
like European and World championships.
Mustafina's parents have never spoiled
her. They never bought her presents
after winning in competitions like most
parents do, nevertheless she believes that it helped her in some way.
She added that her parents didn't watch
her in London and she doesn't care if
they or her friends do.
Aliya listens to her father's advice and
her mother never interferes neither in
her life nor in gymnastics.
Her mother told her having a mascot can be dangerous and can make her perform bad. Her biggest mascot is faith.
The
On her ACL tear, Mustafina said the first four months were the hardest where she wasn't allowed to walk. Then she was allowed to walk in a special
kneecap-safe. She had a huge desire to
compete at the Olympics, so she set it as
her goal.
Mustafina who competed at the
Universiade games last year, said it was
very helpful to have the Universiade
held in her home country as she felt a
great support in the crowd.
On her sister Naila, Aliya said that she is
