World's Greatest Female Artistic Gymnast of her era

Still in the season of celebrating the birthday of the finest Gymnast.

Sport: Gymnastics
Hometown: Spring, TX
Biography: Simone Biles is a United States

Gymnast who won both the U.S. and World All-
Around titles in 2013 and 2014. She also won the
balance beam and floor exercise titles and the
silver medal on vault at the 2014 World
Championships in Nanning, China, in October
2014. Biles led the U.S. Women’s Team to its
fourth world team title. In 2014, Simone became
the first woman to win four gold medals at a
single World Championship in 40 years and the
first U.S. Woman since Shannon Miller to win
back to back World All-Around titles.
The 4’9 gymnast collected nine World medals in
just two years: six gold, two silver and one
bronze. Biles is tied for the second most World
medals for a U.S. gymnast with Nastia Liukin and
Shannon Miller. In addition, her six World gold
medals are the most ever by an American
woman and she just won her second
consecutive U.S. All-Around title and the P&G
Gymnastics Championships, where she became
the floor exercise and vault champion and
balance beam silver medalist. She was the first
African-American to win an All-Around title in
2013 and the first to win back to back World All-
Around titles as of 2014.
Biles missed the first half of 2014 due to a
shoulder injury. In the U.S Secret Classic, her
first competition after recovery, she won the All-
Around, Vault and Floor Exercise titles as well as
tying for the gold in the Balance Geam
competition.
Despite her individual accolades, Biles is the
consummate team player. During the World
Championships in Nanning, she was one of two
U.S. athletes with prior World Championships
experience and stepped up to help her younger
teammates know what to expect and how to
prepare. Prior to competition, Biles said that
winning the team gold medal would “mean
everything” to her.
