S. Biles, who has dominated the world of Gymnastics since
2013, wining every all-round competition. Simone Biles, the winner of four gold
medals and a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics was presented with an honor to
carry the US flag during the closing ceremony. She is much honored to be the
flag bearer during the Olympic closing ceremony. But she seems to have one little
concern.
“I am afraid the flag is going to be too heavy for me,
Michael
Phelps is much taller and seems to carry it with easy,
I am very short, am a
bit worried.”
She should be fine as the flag is light enough. The flag
weighs about 2.5 pounds (the staff is 1.8 pounds and the flag itself is
0.65pounds). Although, the flag which is 9 feet tall is almost twice the size
of the gymnast.
The closing ceremony
was a bit delayed as almost every athlete came around to have a Selfie with
this teenager before the games came to an end. The closing ceremony was “Simone’s
Selfie central”. Being the flag bearer couldn’t prevent fans from stealing
pictures of her.
Her county is very
proud of her and the entire gymnastics world can no longer keep her to
themselves as she has gained attention from all over the world. The most exciting
for her is meeting Zac Efron after her finial event.
She was also tweeted by,
President Obama, First lady Michelle Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift and lots of
celebrities. Simone Biles is no longer a house hold name but a world figure and
she is set for more in Tokyo 2020.
